Play Time!!

Here are some new games that Dylan likes to play. There are lots of pictures but who doesn't like pictures of lil Dylan! He is certainly a lot of fun to play with now and always gives us a good laugh.

We will start with his open the door game. He likes to open and close the door. Of course the door never completely closes because he can't reach the handle to reopen it. We started knocking on the door after he closed it a little bit. We were completely floored when he actually knocked back. We thought it was a fluke, but we tried it several more times and each time he knocked back!

There is his hand starting to open it!

Well Hello There!

Come on in!

Wow, you're tall!

Next, we changed his tummy time mat into a tunnel. He is enjoying crawling through this new adventure!

Here I come.

Maybe it is a new hiding spot.

And well this one he was just trying to get at Daddy!

Next is his Bear rocker that Gau Gau gave Dylan before he was ever born. It has looked great in his bear themed room. But now the real fun begins as he gets to use the toy!

Dylan has learned to hang on to the handles. Check out the nice shirt!!

Most of the time he requires a little help to stay on right.

The rough life of a baby!! Hope you have enjoyed Dylan's play time as much as he did!!

Easter 2008!!!

HE IS RISEN!!!
Therefore we have reason to CELEBRATE!

Dylan with his first Easter bib from Nana and Papa Steve.
Since Mom and Dad got to have a yummy brunch Dylan splurged with banana pudding - too bad he didn't really enjoy it.

How precious is this, my two men getting ready to head out the door to church.

Mom wanted a "photo shoot" on Easter so here we are in the yard behind the house

Dylan looking dapper in his Easter duds!
The cute ducky is from Gau-Gau and Pops.

Dylan was ready to get to his brunch not deal with Mom and her desire for a "photo shoot"

Easter Cookies

I just heard about these cookies from a girlfriend. What a wonderful tradition to start. Of course, Dylan is a little young so I don't have to make them this year. I do love the idea so I thought I would share with all of you. We will have another post up for Easter once we get our pictures in our Easter outfits. :)

Resurrection Cookies

You will need:
1 cup whole pecans
1 teaspoon vinegar
3 egg whites
a pinch salt
1 cup sugar
a zipper baggy
1 wooden spoon
scotch tape
Bible

Instructions:
These are to be made the evening before Easter (if you are going to the Vigil Mass, you can make them before leaving). Preheat oven to 300F.
(this is very important --- don't wait until you are half done with the recipe).
Place pecans in zipper baggy and let children beat them with the wooden spoon
to break into small pieces. Explain that after Jesus was arrested. He
was beaten by the Roman soldiers. Read:
John 19:1-3

Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1 teaspoon vinegar into mixing bowl.
Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross He was given vinegar
to drink. Read:
John 19:28-30

Add egg whites to vinegar. Eggs represent life. Explain that Jesus gave His life
to give us life. Read: John 10:10&11

Sprinkle a little salt into each child's hand. Let them taste it and brush the rest
into the bowl. Explain that this represents the salty tears shed by Jesus' followers,
and the bitterness of our own sin. Read: Luke 23:27

So far the ingredients are not very appetizing. Add 1 cup sugar. Explain that the
sweetest part of the story is that Jesus died because He loves us. He wants us to
know and belong to Him. Read: Psalm 34:8 and John 3:16

Beat with a mixer on high speed for 12 to 15 minutes until stiff peaks are formed.
Explain that the color white represents the purity in God's eyes of those whose sins
have been cleansed by Jesus. Read: Isaiah 1:18 and John 3:1-3

Fold in broken nuts. Drop by teaspoon onto waxed paper covered cookie sheet.
Each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus' body was laid.
Read: Matthew 27:57-60

Put the cookie sheet in the oven, solemnly close the door and turn the oven OFF.

Give each child a piece of tape and seal the oven door.
Explain that Jesus tomb was sealed and guarded. Read: Matthew 27:65-66

Go to bed.

Explain that they may feel sad to leave the cookies in the oven overnight.
Jesus' followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed. Read: John 16:20&22

On Easter morning, get up before the children, unseal the oven door and leave it open just a bit. When they awaken, give every child a cookie. Notice the cracked surface and take a bite. The cookies are hollow! On the first Easter Jesus' followers were amazed to find the tomb open and empty. Read: Matthew 28:1-9

New Hampshire

In early March, we went up to Claremont New Hampshire for Rory's grandfather's memorial service. Thought it was a time of great sadness it was also a joy and blessing to see family that we don't often get to visit. The whole family was together in Claremont -Rory's Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and second cousins. Dylan and I were able to visit with many of the family that we had not previous been able to meet or had only met briefly.
I only wish we had more pictures to share but our camera must be a warm weather camera because it was acting up almost the whole time.

Our sweetie pie

Below is a picture of the home in Chapel Grove where Rory's grandparents used to live.
He and his sister Megan would go there for the summers.

Our family with Joe (Rory's cousin), Rachel and their youngest Selah. They were so precious and opened their home to us over the weekend that we were in NH.

Here I am with Malia, Joe and Rachel's oldest daughter.

Praise the Lord!!!

We just heard this morning via email from a friend on the GW that our waiver for Japan has been approved. Dylan and I will be living over in Japan with Rory. Thank the Lord!!! He worked on our patience and faith and as always He came through as our faithful Lord!
Please continue to pray for our transition.
Thank you to everyone who prayed for us - There truly is power in prayer!

Growing Up

When I go in to get Dylan after naps and in the morning he is usually sitting up like a big boy. No more of that laying down stuff thats for babies :)

Mr. Active now investigates all aspects of his crib including behind the bumper:)
He is crawling now!!!!!!! On March 5th Dylan started crawling. I had been praying as had my girlfriends that Dylan would wait and crawl when Daddy was home. This was a huge answer to prayer. Both Rory and I were working in the office when Dylan decided to up and crawl after his green star. Sometimes he uses one arm then one leg etc.. other times he bunny hops his legs forward. It was so very exciting to be there to see him crawl into a new part of life.

As you have seen in some of the other posts Dylan has been getting sun in his eyes and thus squinting. As responsible parents we decided it was time to bust out the shades:) He is willing to leave them on his face when we are out and the sun is in is face otherwise it is off with the glasses!
