Beginning our Holiday

Our Australian Holiday began in the southern metropolis of Melbourne.
We instantly feel in love with Australia which at first may have had something to do with the fact that we could communicate with others and read signs. No we actually do love Australia but being in an English speaking country was fabulous!

The above picture is the view from our hotel room.
The Swanston Hotel right down town Melbourne.
Check out the shower in our hotel.
It was very strange but in both Melbourne and Sydney the shower walls didn't really keep the water from getting all over the floor.AArrgghh we couldn't get away!!!
On our first day of sightseeing in Australia look what we saw near our hotel! We did get a good laugh out of the fact that on Rory's first day in Japan I took him to Chinatown and on the first day here we drove through Chinatown (only a block away from our hotel) on the way to our hotel.
Melbourne had multiple "districts": Chinatown, Lonsdale street was the Greek precinct, Brunswick street was the alternative/artsy precinct and Lygon Street was little Italy.
St Paul's cathedral which was across from Flinder's Station

Flinder's Train Station
Dylan and I with the Princes Bridge in the background as you look back over the city from Southbank Promenade. Heading to the National Sports Museum at the Melbourne Cricket Grounds

Hallowed Ground above;)
The actually cricket field inside the MCG

What a cute shot of Daddy and son in their shades!
The museum was a splendid way to try to understand the cricket we had been watching on tv as we got ready that morning. We also enjoyed learning more about the MCG, Aussies in the olympics, and of course rugby (footy). We even got to "meet" a famous footy player via a hologram presentation.Yes I had my honey take a picture of a public restroom. I thought it was unique and kind of "cute". I am using the word cute very liberally in the above sentence.

Love you all!
